Author: Giovanni Bernardino Tafuri ‐ Giovanni Bernardino Tafuri was an Italian writer and bibliographer, known above all for his false ancient chronicles. Together with the abbot Polidoro, he composed false ancient documents, including I Diurnali, attributed to Matteo Spinelli from Giovinazzo, and the anonymous Chronicon Neretinum, works that Ludovico Muratori inserted in Rerum Italicarum Scriptores. With Francesco Maria Pratilli, he was the author of the so‐called Neapolitan Chronicle of Ubaldo (1751), unmasked only in 1855 by the exegesis of Bartolommeo Capasso.
