Ancient Near East, Iran, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 800 BCE. A fascinating stone elongated sphere with a vertical shaft excavated through its center. This may have been a mace head or possibly the bulb-like top to a sword's pommel. The stone is a chalky white and two very faint incised lines make a Moon-like motif on one side. Size: 1.85" W x 2.2" H (4.7 cm x 5.6 cm)
Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection
