A large elaborate lid from a ceremonial incensario, Teotihuacan, c. AD 450 - 650, in the form of a warrior's bust in ornate costume with central circular medallion, the headdress in the form of a serpentine face with incised side fringes and topped by feathers. The face is well detailed with a large nose plaque and ear spools. A very attractive piece with remnants of original pigment. 15 1/2 x 14 in (39.3 x 35.4 cm). With heavy repairs and restoration. Ex Texas private collection; Ex Lark Mason.
