Description: Original watercolor, ink and graphite sketch for the final illustration that appears on pages 6-7, on board. 8x13 illustration on 11x16 board. * Also including a print of the final illustration of the same size. Each is signed in pencil by Don Freeman, dated 1976.The original color sketch of page 6-7 of Will's Quill from the American author and illustrator Don Freeman. He is best known (in the children's book arena) for his book Corduroy. Freeman created many other memorable characters such as Willoughby, the duck who delivers a quill to William Shakespeare. Here we have an illustration of a busy town square in London, the sketch is annotated in pencil by Freeman, "First sketch for 'Will's Quill' pages 6 and 7." A beautiful sketch with black ink outlining Shakespeare and the bundle of figures around him. Provenance: The Estate of Don Freeman.
