John James Audubon (American, 1785-1851) White-Breasted Black-Capped Nuthatch. Hand-colored aquatint dated to 1832, Plate CLII of 'Birds of America', engraved by Robert Havell, unframed 26" x 20.75" Sheet: 35.75" x 25.5"

Condition

With a mat burn at the plate mark and darkened within the previous mat opening. There are pale stains and discolorations. The sheet is laid down with small losses in three corners and the upper edge. The top edge of the sheet has been folded back by 2.75" and that piece has tape residue and losses long the edge and a .5" tear
