Lot 0685 Details

Description
This is a Civil War Era gunpowder flask with a tear-drop shaped body and fluted design. It is made out of metal, probably brass, and has a spring lever near the collar which allows the flask to open and close and release a set amount of gunpowder. There are graduated measurements on the neck that range from 3 to 4 drams and the lever release moves smoothly and has good spring tension. There are maker's marks on the neck, but we're not sure who the maker is. There are two loops on each side of the flask for the carrying cord, and the flask is in very good condition, with light rubbing on the collar. The flask is 8 1/4 x 3 1/2 inches wide. .
