A FINE VIETNAMESE/ANNAMESE BLUE AND WHITE PAINTED AND CARVED CERAMIC LIDDED EWER, SHIPWRECK ARTIFACT, 15TH/16TH CENTURY, of bottle form and a domed lid on a raised short circular rounded rim within a lappet panel ringed disc on a cylindrical neck centering a molded band partitioning lingzhi and demi bloom details, flanked by a long serpentine spout with curling molded decoration and elongated "S" form brace opposite an auricular shaped handle, on a bulbous body enclosing a carved relief band of a four claw roaring dragon with an undulating scaly body amidst wispy clouds within raised lines trim, over a lotus petals painted base rim enclosing a recessed underside with unglazed brown spiral detail.      Height: 11 1/2" Width: 7" Depth: 6"


Good condition for shipwreck artifacts of this age, use and materials including but not limited to dulled surface glaze, crazing, some marine incrustation residue in areas , small flaked areas along disc edge, expected kiln firing flaws, surface marks, discolorations and buildup throughout.  Simpson Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
