A NEOCLASSICAL REVIVAL MARBLE TOPPED AND GILT BRONZE MOUNTED BIRDS EYE MAPLE SIDEBOARD, FRENCH, LATE 19TH CENTURY, the breakfront rectangular Bréche Violette d'Espagne marble top above a conforming frieze of nicely modeled bronze intertwined berried laurel branches ending before block marguerites, over a central hinged door enclosing crisply cast ribbon tied bows suspending a floral garland, within an inlaid border of green tinted berried laurel alternating floret marquetry and opening to an adjustable shelf interior, flanked by rows of six drawers with each centering berried laurel branch escutcheons and swag handles, within side fluted columnar pilasters with ovule and paterae detailed bronze capitals and fleur d'asperges stop fluted mounts, raised on a conforming plinth and toupie feet with long leaf modeled sabots, includes two keys. Overall very good condition for furniture of this age, use and materials including but not limited to minor marks, small scratches, age cracks, some small chips and surface build up throughout. The left end of the frieze breakfront is lacking a very small (1/8") piece. This sideboard is beautifully constructed and detailed using oak, birds eye maple (imported from the USA during the 19th century), rosewood and mahogany trim, nicely cast bronze mounts and a fine Spanish marble top.
