Lot 0013
Chupicuaro Lipped Brownware Pottery Vessel, Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guanajuato Valley

Marked in red and a paper label with an inventory number 2153-T.

8 x 9 1/2 in.

Note: The Chupicuaro culture existed from 500 B.C. to 33 A.D. The Chupicuaro ceramic tradition is replete with a variety of forms, color palettes and decorative elements. The above offered lot is a fine example of the simple large corseted vessel with round base and everted top lip. The vessel shows signs of it's utilitarian function with the clouds of smoke enveloping the body. A similar piece sold at Artemis Gallery, Louisville, CO, May 21, 2015, lot #41A.

Condition

Minor scuffing, wear and firing marks throughout. A 3 inch repaired rim with very minor associated losses.

Not withstanding this report or any discussion concerning condition of a lot, all lots are offered and sold "as is" in accordance with our conditions of sale.
