Huge c1920's Antique Native American Basket.
Height = 11" x 15" wide on top.
This is a So. AZ Pima/Papago basket of the early 20th c, (1920s-30s) made of willow and devils claw coiled on a bundle foundation.
The family that consigned this basket donated to the Municipal Museum in Riverside, California, which is now the Riverside Metropolitan Museum. The family donated a large collection of Native baskets in the 1960's except for this and a few other baskets. All of which are in this auction. This is an exceptional large size and the oral history is this basket is from the turn of the century, which coincides with the history of the baskets that were donated to the museum. This is a rare opportunity to own a museum quality basket. The sticker on the bottom is a refer to the collection and we have not tried to remove the sticker. Buyer to examine the photos and make all determinations of condition for themselves.
