Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Kangxi vase. The porcelain shaped into a traditional Meiping form, thick potted, with a narrow base, wide body, slender neck easing to form a petite opening with slight emerge ring line. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered masterfully covered in an even coat of a egg yellow glaze which terminates at the base to reveal the pure white underglaze. The egg yellow glaze creates a mottled effect around the rim which is likened unto the blushing of human skin. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the receded central interior base left white underglaze. The exterior adorned with five claws imperial dragon soaring amidst flames and vapors, with face and upper right appendage outstretched toward the heavens. Vigorous dragons chasing flaming pearl amidst flames against yellow scrolling clouds diaper. The backdrop depicts swirling wind and fire painted atop a beautiful yellow underglaze.
