1) M1858 W/ STRAP. A nice example of a standard issue Civil War 58 cal. infantryman's cartridge box w/ the shoulder suspension sling. Box features an oval "US" brass plate on the front flap. Markings on the inner flap are present but illegible. Interior tins are present. Shoulder strap features a round eagle brass plate. CONDITION: leather is flaked throughout but remains solid. Both original brass plates have a pleasing mellow patina. 1 Interior tin divider is missing. Outer flap has no extra holes & securing thong is unbroken. 2) M1864 W/ STRAP. A nice example of a standard issue Civil War 58 cal. infantryman's cartridge box w/ the shoulder suspension sling. Box features an oval "US" brass plate on the front flap mounted over an embossed "US" in oval. Markings on the inner flap read "H.G. HAEDRICH PHILADA.". Interior tins are present & contain 4 complete & 3 partial 58 cal. cartridges. Shoulder strap features a round eagle brass plate. CONDITION: leather is lightly crazed throughout w/ some flaking on the strap. Both original brass plates have a pleasing patina. Outer flap has no extra holes & securing thong is unbroken. 3) MILITIA BOX. A seldom seen militia version of a Civil War era cartridge box. Box has the appearance of an M1858 but w/ no implement pouch or buckles on the base. Inner flap is thinner & longer. Single tin has 5 dividers. A standard "US" oval plate is attached to the front. CONDITION: leather is generally pliable. Brass plate has a pleasing patina. Outer flap has 2 sets of extra holes. Securing thong is unbroken. (02-12923(3)/BF). $1,100-1,400.
