Lot 0704
American Chippendale Mahogany Chest

late 19th century, New England, with four graduated beaded drawers flanked by fluted pilasters, raised on ogee bracket feet.
h. 36-1/2", w. 41-3/4", d. 21-3/4"

In good "as found" condition, retaining its old, slightly alligatored finish, presumably original, with normal scrubs, mars and wear consistent with age and use. No movement detected in the glue joints of the case. Sturdy and functional. One brass bail is missing. Locks are present; key is not. Drawers slide readily. There is an old restorer's inscription in pencil on the side of the second drawer.
