Guillermo Munoz Vera (b-1956, Chile). Framed oil and alkyd on canvas, laid on wood. Titled: "Tercio de Varas II". The painting depicts one of the three stages of an authentic Spanish bullfight. Signed lower right with the artist's cipher and dated 03. Measures 39-3/8" x 78.75" (100 x 200 cm). Gary Nader Fine Art Gallery label on the reverse further identifies the artist. An additional label on the reverse identifies the artist, the medium, date and title.
NOTE: The authentic Spanish bullfighting is a ritual that starts with the paseillo and is followed then by three different stages or tercios (translated as thirds). Each one starts and ends after a member of the music band blows a bugle.
NOTE: A similar painting by Munoz Vera "El Cite II" sold 11/21/2007 for $79000, Sotheby's New York, Lot 182.
