Description

A typed letter on Navy stationery signed in faded black ink by "F.D. ROOSEVELT/ Assistant Secretary of the Navy" dated April 8, 1918. The letter, addressed to Mrs. L.M. Raymond, thanks her for contributing to the Navy's call for "binoculars, telescopes, and spy-glasses," and details an effort to compensate her for them at the termination of the war. It is accompanied by a check dated April 30, 1918, for one dollar, issued to her from the "Treasurer of the United States, Navy Disbursing Office," for "Binoculars."
