The ribbon was instituted in 1967 and awarded to a) all IDF personnel on active duty for at least 24 hours between 5-11 June 1967; b) all IDF personnel who were killed or wounded during the war - or killed between 18 May and 5 June 1967; c) adult civilians serving in the IDF between 1 April and 11 June 1967; d) civilian volunteer-drivers or IDF reservists who volunteered to serve in an active unit; e) civilian security personnel, including in the armaments industry, or officials dealing with state-of-emergency arrangements and others who took part in activities decided by the government, and worked continuously from 15 May until 12 June 1967. If the eligible person died, his next of kin could request to receive the ribbon or a replacement of a lost ribbon.
