Lot 80659
Early Nazi aviation: Lot of 14x original black & white photographs c. mid-1930's, mostly related to the Third Reich era "German Air Sports Association" (Deutscher Luftsportverband; DLV e. V.), as evidenced by its emblem on the training aircraft in some of the photos. Where shown, some of the images are printed on Agfa Lupex paper and others were developed at Zitzlsperger in Rosenheim (which appears to still be in business, since 1929). Some of the images are referenced on the back to the cities of Lauda, Weill(sp?), Grunau & Hesselberg; one image is dated 1938, which would post-date the GASA, which was dissolved the year before and replaced by the National Socialist Flyers Corps (Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps; NSFK). The GASA was set up by the Nazi Party in March 1933 to establish a mechanism for the training of military pilots, using men still officially civilians and in a covert manner using gliders, in order to circumvent the restrictions imposed by the Versailles Treaty on the formation of a German air force; its chairman was Hermann Goring and its vice-chairman Ernst Rohm.
