The previous owner purchased the painting at a Laguna Beach gallery about 25 years ago, it has the dealer's stamp on the back: Larry Kronquist, 362 North Coast Blvd., Laguna Beach, California. The back of the canvas is also stamped with Robert Wood copyright stamp - see photo 6. This painting was appraised in 2008 by De Ru's Fine Arts for $10,000 - see photo 7. It's a beautiful very large 30" x 48" original oil painting. Great vivid Autumn colors with trees, including a wonderful tree with a twisted branch and a brook. The artist maintained a studio in the Eastern Woodlands, near Woodstock, New York in the 1950's and this painting is an Eastern Scene and would make an impressive addition to your fine household or collection.

- CONDITION: Has some natural craquelure, frame nicks, has some inpaint in the tree trunk, between the two birch trees and in the sky otherwise excellent condition.
Robert William Wood (March 4, 1889 – March 14, 1979) was an American landscape painter. He was born in Sandgate, Kent, England near the White Cliffs of Dover. After emigrating from England in 1910, he roamed the United States from Maine to California in search of landscape subjects and rose to prominence in the 1950s with the sales of millions of his color reproductions. He was active in the art colonies of San Antonio, Texas in the 1930s, Monterey, California in the 1940s and Laguna Beach in the 1950s. His prolific works range from the few thousands of dollars upwards of $40,000 for his Texas Blue Bonnet scenes.
