Ancient Near East / Western Asia, Anatolia, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A beautiful alabaster plate, possibly for holding cosmetics, with a curved avian head - resembling that of a vulture - projecting from one side. The alabaster is creamy, with reddish tinges, and is near translucent in places when held to a light source. Size: 3.6" W x 0.9" H (9.1 cm x 2.3 cm)
