**Originally Listed At $500**

Ancient Central Asia, Bactrian, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A cast-copper axe head with a cylindrical socket decorated with an abstract eye, an incised 'mouth' ringing the top of the shaft hole, and a drooping fin hanging off of the back side. The projecting crescent-shaped axe head has a series of small spheres lining both sides of the blade which suggests this axe was meant for ceremonial purposes rather than warfare. Thick layers of green and russet patina envelop the entire axe head. Size: 4.75" W x 6.25" H (12.1 cm x 15.9 cm); 7.5" H (19 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection
