Lot 0428
**Originally Listed At $400**

Pre-Columbian, north coast of Peru, Chavin, ca. 900 to 200 BCE. An elegant vessel with a near-spherical body and a tall, gracefully tapering spout with a rolled rim. The body is burnished to incredible russet red and chocolate brown hues that reflect light beautifully. This coloring was likely intended to replicate the warm glow of a newly minted copper vessel. This special example is incredibly preserved! Size: 6.35" W x 8.52" H (16.1 cm x 21.6 cm)

Provenance: ex-private D. Jeppesen collection, Oregon, USA, acquired before 1982

Intact, aside from a tiny chip from the rim. Expected scuffs and scratches commensurate with age, but overall in beautiful condition with nice burnishing and firing marks. Small deposit at junction of neck and body.
