Arctic, Native American / First Nations, Inuit, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. Hand carved from fossilized caribou bone, and with a rich patina from age, this is a fine socket for a harpoon. Notice the hole at the rear for securing the attachment of the socket to the shaft. Size: 1.4" W x 7.05" H (3.6 cm x 17.9 cm)

Provenance: private southwestern Pennsylvania, USA collection, acquired in Savoonga, Alaska, USA
