Lot 0614
**Originally Listed At $800**

Native American, Pacific Northwest, British Columbia, Haida, Tlingit, or Tsimshian peoples, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden storage box including its original lid. The box is composed of four planks attached to each other and a base by small dowels, each boasting a myriad of intricately-carved zoomorphic creatures. The top of the lid as well as the long sides of the body present a stylized bear face, surrounded by ears and eyes, with a large-handed, wide-eyed figure below. The short sides of the body display a few concentric circles, an abstract anthropomorphic face mask, and the disembodied beak of a large bird. Copper-hued pigment is applied to most exterior surfaces, and the faded remains of said pigment have developed faint green patina atop the lid. Size: 21" L x 8.875" W x 10" H (53.3 cm x 22.5 cm x 25.4 cm).

Provenance: private Newport Beach, California, USA collection
