New World, Spanish Colonial period, ca. 18th to early 19th century CE. A collection of iron door hardware from grand doors, perhaps from private homes, churches, or government buildings in the Spanish Colonial New World, all in a framed shadowbox. At the center is a highly decorative, openwork plate that is over a locking mechanism, with the keyhole clearly visible at the lower part. Above the keyhole are two stylized lions, forming a crest-like motif. Also included are ten smaller decorative plates, six spikes with decorative finials, and one openwork hinge. Size of plate: 5.75" W x 7.85" H (14.6 cm x 19.9 cm); size of shadowbox: 3" L x 30.75" W x 37" H (7.6 cm x 78.1 cm x 94 cm)

Condition

Small loss to upper corner of plate in the center, otherwise all are in very nice condition, with a dark red patina and well preserved details.
