Description

98 Pc. Georg Jensen Denmark "Pyramid" (Circa 1927) Sterling Silver Flatware Set. Service for 12, this set contains 12 dinner forks - 7 1/4" long, 12 salad forks, 12 dessert / place spoons, 12 dessert / oval soup spoons, 12 large youth spoons, 12 five o'clock spoons, 12 modern long handled dinner knives - 8 7/8" long, 12 solid fish knives, 1 pastry server and 1 round serving spoon. Total approx. weight - 139.49 troy oz. Designed in 1927 by Harald Nielsen, the Pyramid sterling silver cutlery pattern was inspired by a fascination of Ancient Egyptian forms and symbolism which were in vogue in the late 1920s after the discovery of TutankhamonÂ’s tomb. PyramidÂ’s Egyptian motif, seen in the stepped pyramid finial topped off with a small ball, illustrates Harald NielsenÂ’s contribution to the highly stylized and geometric art-deco style. As he once said: "Ornamentation should emphasize the Harmony of the pieces but must not dominate."Please note: we incorrectly stated the solid fish knives as butter spreaders.
