Charles Grant Beauregard (1856-1919) specialized in portraits, but residing in New York's Hudson Valley, he often painted scenic views as well. His talent is apparent in this excellent genre style portrait of a man sitting in a chair with a stem pipe. Signed "C. G. Beauregard" at bottom right. Oil on canvas. Mounted in ornate gold frame. Frame has areas of missing gesso. Painting is in very good condition. Measures 21 inches by 26 inches.
