Description
American Rococo Revival Rosewood Dodecagonal Parlor Table, Attributed to J. H. Belter, New York
the pierced inset Danby marble top over a conforming scalloped apron, each corner mounted with a distinctive carving, on a foliate-carved pedestal with dangling leaves and grape clusters, joined to a base with rose-carved panels and legs modeled as dolphin heads, foliage and scrolls.
h. 29-1/2", w. 45", d. 30-1/2"
Provenance: The Estate of Donald J. Hurst, Waterloo, Iowa.
Condition
In overall very good condition. Retains a good deep reddish brown color and a surface that appears to
have been restored, or over-coated and waxed.
Normal scattered minor mars, shrinkage, typical small flakes to edges of carved surfaces but no notable
losses observed. There is a line of white glue, probably a drip, just above one leg at its joint with the
pedestal.
The inset marble top appears to be original. It exhibits scattered light stains and mars.
Sturdy and solid. No movement observed in the legs or pedestal.
