World War One, Great Britain Royal Flying Corps grouping. Collection of (16) items connected with the career of Lt. Robert A. Logan, shot down and wounded by Leutnant Schafer of the Red Baron's "Flying Circus" on April 8, 1917. Group includes (1) typed letter, signed from Logan to Dr. Walter Powell on 7 November 1984; (1) photostat copy of Logan's biography; (2) photostats of 2 newspaper articles about Logan from the Duluth, Minnesota, newspaper; (1) promotional brochure for Logan's book "The Golden Talisman"; (1) photostat of lengthy letter by Logan to Mr. Robert Seeley sent in June 1977 describing his aviation career; (1) photostat of London Gazette articles from 1917 noting Logan as MIA and noting his promotion; (1) copies of other British War Office documents regarding Logan; (1) handwritten letter from Logan to Dr. Walter Powell sent on December 13, 1984; (1) handwritten letter sent to Dr. Powell from Logan dated December 28, 1984; (1) copy photo of Manfred Von Richthofen and fellow officers, including "Leutnant Schafer"--credited with shooting down Logan's aircraft; (1) photostat of postcard image of Manfred Von Richthofen and fellow officers, with Logan's comments about Lt. Schafer on the rear (1 ) three page handwritten letter from Logan to Dr. Powell dated November 19, 1984 speaking at length about his WWI service, including his incident with the Red Baron's "Flying Circus." (1) handwritten 1 page letter from Logan to Dr. Powell dated 25 January 1985; (1) handwritten 1 page letter from Logan to Dr. Powell dated March 7, 1985; (1) eleven page legal size photostat of the combat report for Logan's encounter with the Flying Circus on 8 April 1917 entitled "Aerial Combat Between Three D.H. 4 Aeroplanes and Five Albatross Scouts, North-east and North of Cambrai about 2:15 P.M., Easter Sunday, 8th April 1917."_x000D_
Logan, a native of Nova Scotia, became a US Citizen after WWII and had a distinguished career, including a long friendship with famed aviator Charles Lindbergh.,
