World War One, US Lafayette Escadrille pilot Carl Dolan group includes: (1) two page handwritten letter by Dolan to Dr. Walter Powell, dated June 13, 1981, on "Lafayette Escadrille N. 124 Society" letterhead, stating in part: "Have a 2'x2' Lithographof Lufbery & I as his wingman on the Last Patrol of the French Lafayette Escadrille N-124 (Feb. 17, 1918) & the next day Feb. 18, 1918 we were the 1st and only US Squadron in any war for about (2) months. The 103rd Aero Pursuit Squadron. . ." He also noted that he had "just been invited to Paris with my wife and an aid. . .to be there on Nov. 11 Armistice Day with all the WWI War Aces. . ." (1) one page typed generic note by Dolan on Lafayette Escadrille letterhead thanking the recipient for "your interest in the Escadrille and trusting you will enjoy [the lithograph copy print] "The Last Patrol." (1) b/w 8x10 photo of the lithograph "The Last Patrol" with Dolan's handwritten comments on rear; (1) b/w 8x10 copy photo of Dolan in the cockpit of his plane, inscribed in ink by Dolan; (1) photostat of photo of Dolan--inscribed in ink to Walter Powell--with note that "We transferred over night (Feb. 18, 1918) to the U.S. 1st & only US Aero Squadron on any front--The 103rd Aero Pursuit Squadron." (4) four separate newspaper clippings about Dolan, including his obituary; (1) b/w 8x10 copy photo of the Lafayette Escadrille Flag; (1) November 1979 issue of "Latitude 20: The Hawaiian Air Magazine" with an article about Dolan entitled "The Last of the First" by Jim Lockridge.
