World War One, US Taped interview with WWI Pilot (7pc). An original reel-to-reel taped interview with American WWI pilot Roland Richardson of the 213th Aero Squadron. The interview, more than an hour in length, was held at Richardson's home in Glendale, Ohio on November 4, 1962. The interview was secured by WWI aviation historian Dr. Sterling Kleiser of Lebanon, PA, from whom Dr. Powell purchased the item. A digitally remastered CD copy of the tape is included--interview is crisp and clear._x000D_
This lot also includes (2) 2 handwritten letters sent by Richardson to Dr. Walter Powell on 31 October and 20 November 1984; (1) Copy of Richardson's Service Record fill in by hand; (1) photostat copy of transcript of another taped interview conducted with Richardson in August 1978; (1) copy of newspaper article about Dr. Sterling Kleiser; (1) "An American Pursuit Pilot in France: Roland W. Richardson's Diaries and Letters, 1917-1919" Edited by Ritchie Thomas and Carl M. Becker (Shippensburg, PA: White Mane Publishing Co, 1994), hardcover with dj, 198pp.
