Comprised of concrete, nails and wood base, a fabulous owl sculpture with glass eyes by Lou Rankin; ht. 12.5". Signed and dated 1966 to the underside. Lou Rankin was originally a cartoonist working in California, but over time he developed an innovative use of sculpture and nails as a medium, notably having his work sold at Gump's in San Francisco. A bird sculpture of Rankin's was famously included in Alfred Hitchcock's The Bird's.
