April 2, 1762-Dated Colonial Period, Autograph Document Signed, "Rich. Stockton" being a Receipt written on fine laid period paper measuring 4.5" x 8", Cape May, Cumberland County (NJ), Extremely Fine. The entire note is very clean and pleasing, written by Stockton's own hand in deep bold brown, easily readable, and is signed by him at lower right. The note relates to monies received relative to land in Cape May. Stockton's signature is bold and he completes it with a an almost 2" flourish below. Stockton is one of the rarer, less noticed signers, hence his signature is valuable being highly popular and sought-after. An excellent example for autograph collectors.
