Jose Cisneros (1910-2009), "Four Faces of the Borderlands", portfolio of 4 lithographs, print size: 18 x 24" ea.
Four Faces of the Borderlands, Jose Cisneros, created by David Holman, Wind River Press. Set of 4 prints in a cloth portfolio created from original bust portraits by Jose Cisneros. The portraits were treasured works by Cisneros himself and created for his book “Faces of the Borderlands," Texas Western Press, 1977. The prints are in color, with the originals being ink and watercolor. Cisneros considered these portraits among the best work he achieved, and they are indeed exceptional. When collector J.P. Bryan acquired the originals, Mr. Cisneros requested prints be made so he could have copies to hang in his home. David Holman was to the task and created the beautiful prints at his Wind River Press in Austin. The four portraits included in the portfolio are: Spanish Conquistador, 16th Century, Spanish Frontier Officer, Late 18th Century, Mission Indian Boy, Mexican Muleteer, Early 19th Century. Each print is accompanied by a description plate which features Jose Cisneros' descriptions for each portrait taken with Cisneros' permission from “Faces of the Borderlands." Prints created by David Holman of Wind River Press in a limited edition printing of 100 sets. This set is number 5 out of 100. Facsimile signature only.
