By Rev. J. G. Wood, with The Addition of a Full Index and List of Illustrations, and a Description of the Races of Alaska and Siberia, by an Eminent American Traveler. With Over 700 fine illustrations from new designs, by Zwecker, Angas, Danby, Wolf, Handley, Etc. Etc. Engraved by the Brothers Dalziel. The only authorized and unabridged edition published in this country. Complete in Two volumes, American Publishing Company, Hartford, Conn., 1870.

John George Wood, or Rev J. G. Wood, (21 July 1827 - 3 March 1889), was an English writer who popularized natural history with his writings. Mark Twain refers Wood's "Uncivilized Races, or Natural History of Man" in his humorous work "Roughing It."
