Title: Antique Japanese Sword - A 1500's Tanto by Kiyomitsu (Signed)Origin: JapanDate/Period: 1500'sDimensions: 7 3/8 Kissaki to Habaki
A 1550's Bizen Tanto signed by "Kiyomitsu". This is an excellent, in full polish Tanto signed by the highly rated Bizen swordsmith Kiyomitsu. All tanto's were custom made for the owner and not mass produced, as such their quality is usually much better as the swordsmith paid close attention to his work. This tanto is in excellent full polish, complete with the original tsuba and koshirae. This tanto needs nothing and would make a beautiful addition to any collection. Please look at the pictures as I have tried to capture the beautiful hamon of this special tanto. A high quality, signed Kiyomitsu tanto that is over 500 years old. The fact that the nioiguchi is lined with scattered ko-nie (tiny crystals) is a significant clue. Fujishiro ranks Hikobei-no-jo as Saijo-saku (a grandmaster swordsmith) in their Nihon Koto Jiten reference book. His works are found from 1489-1519.
