Description
ENGLISH STAFFORDSHIRE TRANSFER-PRINTED "JENNY LIND" IRONSTONE ARTICLES, LOT OF SEVEN, each featuring a romantic scene with figures in foreground and castle and lake in background with overglaze polychrome decoration, comprising a platter, one plate, and a cup and saucer set, each having purple/mulberry transfer design, and three 12-sided plates having dark grey transfer design. Printed marks include "JENNY LIND / C M & S" and impressed "Improved / Stone China". Charles Meigh & Son, Hanley, England. 1850-1861. Cup and saucer 3" HOA, platter 13 1/2" x 10 1/8".
Five undamaged, except some having expected short scattered scratches to interior from use, and purple plate having moderate crazing; platter with a flake rim; cup having chip, flakes, and hairlines to rim.
Literature: Transferware Collectors Club database pattern #4159.
Provenance: From the John & late Evelyn Teague collection, Bloomingdale, IN.
