Description:

Ink and white-out on heavy bristol board, measuring 10" x 10", signed "S. Clay Wilson". Excellent condition.

Pen and ink drawing by S. Clay Wilson, created in 1994 for a Water Row Press t-shirt design promoting the "Beat-L" Beat Generation forum of the Brooklyn College. The richly-detailed illustration captures Wilson's talent at its apex, with intricate linework delineating a host of masterful details (the coffee ring on the poet's latest composition, dedicated to "Ginsy," is a particularly nice touch). Accompanying the lot is an example of the finished t-shirt (size XL). Examples of Wilson's published and commercial original art seldom come to market, and since the artist's tragic incapacitation in 2008, even his fan sketches are becoming difficult to find.
