75006 BB Marbles: Rare Confetti Ribbon Marble
Item Details
Description
OTHER HANDMADE, Confetti. A Confetti or Paperweight marble. Exceptionally rare example. Transparent clear base. This is not the four-vane variety you usually see. This one is a wide ribbon stretching from edge to edge. There is a rope of color running from the bottom pole over the top of the marble and down to the pole again. Even spacing around the marble. When viewed from the top, forms a perfect "+". When viewed from the side, you can discern the single ribbon and the wide rope. The ribbon and rope are composed of chunks of pink, yellow, blue, red and white. Single pontil. A distinct left-twist to the marble. Very nicely formed. One tiny dimple where the colored chunks come to the surface. One sparkle. Probably the best example you are likely to find. I have never seen the ribbon with rope design before. Generally believed to be made in Germany, probably in the 1920s or 1930s. 1-7/16". Mint(-) (9.1). The marbles in Lots 2 through 6 are all from a single small collection.
