Six panel Japanese roomdivider (byobu) with an elegant and nicely detailed multi coloured painting of a large groupe of twenty red-crown cranes (Gus japonensis or tsuru). Grouping together in a pine tree forest.The cranes have vibrant colors and a lifely facial expression, and beautitifull painted feathers and legs, on a goldleaf background. Both pine trees and cranes are symbols for immortality, longevity and hapiness. In nice original condition with some superficial wear on the goldleaf. Baku matsu period – Mid 19 th century.
