Description
  • Title: 19th C Staffordshire Transferware Plate Abbey Pattern
  • Size: 10 ½” (26.7 cm) diameter x 1 ¼” (3.2 cm) tall.
  • Description:A ceramic plate with a romantic transfer design of a ruined abbey and tourists visiting the site. The molded ceramic plate has a pale blue transfer of a park like setting surrounding a ruined abbey with visitors viewing the site. The plate has a rounded shallow foot with a glazed base. The glaze is thick with a soft feel. The glaze has a fine crackle. The base has a foliate cartouche with the word ABBEY in the center and the word IRONSTONE above it. The company initials “L.P. & Co.” are below this. MEASUREMENTS 10 ½” (26.7 cm) diameter x 1 ¼” (3.2 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 8.3 oz (690 g) CONDITION There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There are kiln flaws, such as bumps, pimple reserves, potting imperfections that are glazed over, and transfer flaws. There is wear to the surface of the plate from age and usage. There is a brown stain from an old label on the base.
