Lot 0003 Details

Description
Oil on board with European wood cradle back panel, gilt frame. Scene with two men and three horses. Image 10 inches x 13 inches. Signed lower left. Jules Jacques Veyrassat (France 1828-1893) is known for rural scene and horse paintings. Veyrassat is generally associated with the Barbizon School of painters. His work is often compared to the rural works of prominent Barbizon painter and engraver Charles Emile Jacque (1813-1894) and well known Barbizon painter Jean-François Millet (1814-1875). Veyrassat's expanded and applied the technique and style of the Barbizon culture to include new content, particularly the agrarian areas in central France.
