Description
Morning painted by Stephen Morgan Etnier (1903-1984). Oil on canvas.Signed by Etnier on bottom right and handwritten pencil inscription of title and signature on verso by Etnier. Dimensions: Canvas measured on verso is 16 inches wide by 10 inches height. Wood lined Frame: 18.75 inches (w) by 12.75 inches (h). Provenance: Obtained at Auction in Maine where other Etnier paintings sold as well. Beautiful painting depicting an early day water scene with pylons & cords in the forefront, partial stern of a a small boat, and two ducks in reeds in the center. Stephen was active in Maine as well as in Califonria and is famous for his oils of waterfront scenes, landscapes, and figures. Considered a romantic realist, Etnier lived a full life and was one of the most traveled painters of the 20th century. A worldwide known artist, Etnier's work is displayed in many museums and art collections. Etnier art have sold for over $70,000 at auction. 1% of hammer price for all items sold at Masters of Art Volume II Art Series Auction will be donated to the Humane Society.
Condition
Condition: Both painting and frame are in excellent studio condition. Distinct Etnier signatures on front and verso as well as title inscription on verso. Reviewed under UV light and by naked eye.
