Greek ca. 500 B.C..
Clay, polychromy. H. 8.8 cm
Upper section of a standing horse. Head with round muzzle, pointed ears and slightly off-set eyes. The mane forms a rounded ridge between the ears and runs down to the back. Ornamental discs are located between the ears, at the end of the mane, on the chest and between the distinctly off-set thighs. Beginning of the forelegs and the belly preserved. Condition: Top of mane and left ear slightly worn. Traces of red paint on either side of the mane, on the body and on the disc on the chest.
Formerly Coll. E. Tanner, Schaffhausen, Schweiz. Thereafter Swiss priv. coll., acquired 2011.
