Description
Greek (Attic) ca. 540 B.C..
Clay. H. 19.1 cm.
Four standing men on the obverse, two draped and two nude and bearing spears - likely a departure scene before battle. On the shoulder, a subsidiary scene with three draped women. Condition: Surface worn, particularly in areas of reserve. Spout reattached. Body reassembled from fragments. Breaks not in-filled or retouched. Lacuna to proper left side of body (ca. 6 cm in length).
Formerly Coll. Prof. Hans Dahn (1919-2019), Lausanne; acquired 1954 from Fischer, Lucerne. Published: Galerie Fischer, Lucerne, Auction 16 November 1954, Antikensammlung Nachlass Franz Trau Wien, lot 192 (without illus.).
