‘Fragmenta Regalia’ is a 17th-century memoir of the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth. Written in 1634, and first published in 1641, this book is author Sir Robert Naunton’s commentary on the late Queen’s life written for Charles I and is one of the best sources that describe the way Elizabeth ruled. In fact, much of what modern history refers to as ‘Elizabethan’ comes from Naunton’s commentary.
