James Monroe (1758-1831) 5th President. and John Quincy Adams (1767-1848) 6th President. 12” x 14 ½” vellum, partially printed document signed, Washington, March 20, 1821. Adams has signed as Secretary of State. The document is a patent issued to Andrew Cock for a “…machine for planting Indian Corn…” The document has been counter-signed by Attorney General William Wirt (1772-1834). The two pages of support documentation are included. All three pages have been archivally encapsulated. Adams and Wirt’s signatures are faded, but legible.
