Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill was a British politician, military officer and writer who served as the prime minister of Great Britain from 1940 to 1945 and from 1951 to 1955. After becoming prime minister in 1940, Churchill helped lead a successful Allied strategy with the U.S. and Soviet Union during World War II to defeat the Axis powers and craft postwar peace. He was making landscape drawings inspired by places that he saw all over the world but became more of an enthusiastic painter after resigning from the government in 1955. Even though; he started painting earlier while resting between battles while sailing to Cuba, India, and Sudan at 1895–1899; he almost gave up painting and donated locally most of his paintings by that time due to unmerciful treatment of wounded enemy against the army of Sudanese. He continued this hobby into his old age, painting landscapes and buildings of Marrakesh or other various Landscapes that he had the chance to view during his war trips.
