Lot 2029 Details

Description
J. & E. Stevens Company Cromwell, Connecticut, 1883. Press the pig's tail and Otto von Bismarck, the Chancellor of the German Empire, pops out of the pig's body. The imagery of the pig is political satire that stems from Bismarcks' restrictive tariff for the import of American bacon and other pork products. Made of Cast Iron, Lead & Tin. Worked when tested. There are probably less than 25 known original examples. Almost none are all original, like this one. Fine Condition. Very tight 1" hairline crack starting from the top of the side panel running down into the "m" of Bismark.
