Description
American Carved Mahogany Recamier, 19th c., the serpentine C-scroll carved crest rail over a tufted upholstered back with upholstered scrolled sides, to a cushioned seat, on cabriole legs with toupie feet, together with an associated mahogany footstool with ball feet, both in wine colored velvet upholstery, Recamier- H.- 34 in., W.- 63 in., D.- 29 in. (2 Pcs.) Provenance: from a Garden District Collector, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Condition
Condition is consistent with age and use. The back of the Recamier is strong and does not need a wall for support, unless a large person is on it. The tall back has a shrinkage split at the joint. This should be filled. There is normal wear and tear, scuffing and scratches visible throughout. Both could use a new re-upholstering. Nice example. ______________________________________________________________________________ ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD “AS IS.” NO STATEMENT REGARDING CONDITION OF ANY ITEM, WHETHER IT IS MADE ORALLY AT THE AUCTION OR ANY OTHER TIME, OR IN WRITING IN THE CATALOGUE OR ELSEWHERE, SHALL BE DEEMED TO BE A WARRANTY, REPRESENTATION, OR ASSUMPTION OF LIABILITY.
