Description

Conjuring.- Fawkes (Issac) Bartholomew's Fair,fan design, aquatint, c.29 x 53cm, with the descriptive text on a semi-circular label pasted below, 2 short repaired tears to lower corners, a few creases at foot of image, label lightly browned, framed and glazed, J.F. Setchel, [1824]. *** Rare. The fan was copied by Setchel from an early painting attributed to Thomas Loggon. The depiction of Fawkes is the most important of the very few known portraits of one of the greatest conjurers of the time.
